Event Description

From May through mid-October , 2011, join K. Coralee Burch in Watkins Glen, New York, USA for en plein air workshops in the Fabulous Finger Lakes.  Watkins Glen area has, not only one of the deepest most pristine lakes in the world gouged out by the glaciers, but hundreds of waterfalls, of which many run all year long.  In addition there are more than 54 wineries surrounding the lake, picturesque Mennonite farms and a world famous race track.  The famous Watkins Glen Gorge, 1 ½ miles walk up stairways, through tunnels and over bridges with over 20 waterfalls, was once considered one of the wonders of the world and was a retreat for silent movie film stars and other famous people.  The varying winds over the lake make it a favorite for sailors adding more beauty to the surroundings.  

Acrylic, pastel and watercolor, your choice, will be supported by demonstrations, critiques and instruction, but oil and mixed media are also welcome. Workshops are half-days. Paint outside as much as four hours a day for three days.  There will be plenty of additional time to wine taste, explore the area, take photographs, and continue work on your paintings on the winery porch.  All media welcome.

Small workshop size! Typically no more than 4-8 students. Take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy this personal sized workshop.  Take $200 off if you bring a friend to share your room!

Accommodations:

You will be housed in one of the four pristine, large beautiful rooms of The Professors Inn, an 1800s large Victorian house overlooking Seneca Lake (see www.professorsinn.com)  above the winery tasting room.

There is one free wine tasting, one free bottle of wine, , a covered porch for relaxing or continuing your paintings, and an “open 24 hours” expanded continental breakfast and break room.

The plein air retreat includes room for four nights at the famous Professors’ Inn B&B right in Cascata Winery, one free bottle of wine per room, free wine tasting, four breakfasts, access to fabulous painting sites, picnic lunch for the three plein air painting days, and demonstrations, instruction and critique.

Please bring your own art materials.  A list will be provided for any of the media.
